Group violin lessons
At Klangfarben Creative, we believe in the benefits of learning and playing together as a group. Group violin lessons are a wonderful way for children to learn without the intensity of one-on-one lessons.
It’s also more affordable and a fantastic way to build confidence and make new friendships, with a maximum of 6 children per ensemble class.
By playing and learning chamber music, our group lessons nurture listening, teamwork skills, patience and collaboration, all in a fun and supportive environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students will need their own violin, sheet music (music book is included in your enrollment pack), and time and support to practice at home.
If you need to purchase an instrument, we can help you get set up.
-
Only if they want to - music is a different journey for everyone. You can still join our group classes even if you don’t want to sit exams. If you don’t want to complete exams, you’ll still have the opportunity to perform and be recognised for your achievements with our Klangfarben Certificate.
-
We aim to accomplish each level after one year of learning, however this depends on each individual student. Some students may progress faster, while others need more time.
-
Yes, we will never put a child into an exam who is not ready. We want every child to feel confident and excited to show what they have learned. These opportunities should be positive experiences, not overwhelming or stressful. We offer feedback on your child’s progress throughout the year.
-
One of the benefits of group learning is building strong connections. For that reason, we typically only allow entry to classes at the start of each year, though on some occasions, mid-year entry may be available. We tend to avoid disrupting the groups once they’re established.
-
Yes. Some students can stay on and take the Group Violin class at 4:45pm after the OSHC class ends at 4:30pm, back to back. Students will be supervised during the break and will remain on site at the venue.
This is a wonderful way to combine our Music OSHC with formal violin lessons. Combining the two means you can pick up your child at 5:30pm, giving you 2.5 hours of after school care.
-
From grade 4 and above or equivalent students are invited to move to private lessons to develop a deeper level of technical ability and more advanced musical expression.
-
We will enrol all students into exams and organise the piano accompanist. Parents are billed separately for all examination enrolment costs managed by Klangfarben Creative. Students not wishing to take exams will be able to demonstrate their achievements in the Klangfarben Student Concerts instead. We celebrate all learning equally with or without an official qualification.
-
Yes, one make up class is available each term. These are scheduled for the last week of the term and cannot be carried over to the following term.
Masterclasses
A new pair of ears brings a different perspective.
In addition to our group violin lessons, we hold masterclasses throughout the year. Masterclasses are about pursuing musical passions together and extending skills in the presence of an invited expert, offering students a different perspective on works they’ve studied and are ready to take to the next level. Masterclasses are highly recommended before exams, competitions, concerts, school performances/auditions, or to play your favourite piece of music with a new approach.
Please see the “Workshop” tab below to view and book a Masterclass.

Private violin lessons
Individual violin lessons are the key to refining your skills and enhancing your artistry as a violinist. Specialised lessons are recommended from Grade 4 standard or equivalent with the exception of adults, who have private lessons from the start.
Even if you’re playing purely to express yourself, our private lessons will improve your technique, bring personality into your performance and provide you the opportunity to learn from a highly-skilled professional musician.
Individual lessons are suited to more advanced students and focus on achieving a beautiful, rounded sound, with a healthy technique, encouraging students to become artists in their own right.

Learning with Klangfarben Creative
Music is a passion. It should sweep you away and fill your heart. At Klangfarben Creative, our first priority is making our lessons fun and enjoyable. When students look forward to their lessons, it’s much easier to do the work required to create a beautiful sound.
Our teaching methods originate from Tabea’s studies in Berlin, Manchester, Edinburgh, London, and New York City. All lessons have a relaxed, positive atmosphere, while still setting high standards. We celebrate achievements and milestones to nurture and encourage students through their learning and discovery of the instrument.
The skills we focus on help build a solid foundation for playing at all levels – teaching efficient practice techniques, a healthy posture, ear training, reading music, understanding the nuances of performing, and developing stage presence and confidence – skills that will support your child’s learning throughout their life.
