Introducing Klangfarben Creative

A music school united by melody

Klangfarbenmelodie is about bringing unique tones together to create a single melody.

That’s the vision behind Klangfarben Creative – a community connected by the music we create together.

At Klangfarben Creative, music is something we explore together.

Some children arrive curious about rhythm and sound. Others are ready to begin learning an instrument for the first time. Wherever a student begins, they become part of a shared musical journey.

Many young musicians first discover music through BAM — our before and after school music program, where rhythm, instruments and creative music-making come alive in a welcoming group environment.

From these first musical experiences, students can begin instrumental lessons and later grow into ensemble music, where listening, collaboration and shared music-making bring each voice together into something greater.

Learning with Klangfarben Creative

Music is a passion. It should sweep you away and fill your heart.

At Klangfarben Creative, our first priority is creating lessons that students genuinely enjoy. When children look forward to their lessons, it becomes much easier to do the work required to create a beautiful sound.

Our teaching approach brings together experience from international conservatoire training and classroom music education. Through studies and teaching in Brisbane, Berlin, Manchester, Edinburgh, London and New York City, we combine strong musical foundations with an understanding of how children learn and grow through music.

Lessons are designed to be welcoming and positive while maintaining high musical standards. We celebrate achievements and milestones, supporting students as they grow in confidence and discover their instrument.

Our teaching focuses on building strong musical foundations — including efficient practice habits, healthy posture, ear training, reading music, musical expression and stage confidence. These are skills that support students not only as musicians, but throughout their learning journey.

The Musicians Behind Klangfarben

Meet Tabea

Co-Director · Music Educator, Violinist & Violist

At the age of five, supported by her music-loving family, Tabea picked up the instrument that would shape the fabric of her life. After years of refining her sound, she was invited to study the violin at the Royal Academy of Music in London and New York University, opportunities that helped launch her international performing career.

The violin has taken Tabea across the world, performing internationally and touring alongside artists including Matteo Bocelli and Michael Bublé, and appearing in television, theatre and film productions including Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis and Shake & Stir’s A Christmas Carol.

In 2024, Tabea was awarded Global Talent Permanent Residency by the Australian Government, recognising her contributions to the arts. In her adopted home of Brisbane, she has been a regular performer at QPAC, in the Candlelight Concerts series, and in Topology’s innovative in-school music programs.

Alongside her teaching and directing work at Klangfarben Creative, Tabea continues to perform professionally on stages in Australia and internationally.

Together with Courtney, Tabea co-founded Klangfarben Creative to create a music school where young musicians can discover their sound, develop confidence on their instrument, and experience the excitement of performing and sharing music with others.

Meet Courtney

Co-Director · Music Educator, Cellist & Vocalist

Courtney’s musical journey began in the music programs at her local state school, where she sang in choirs and began learning the cello. Those early experiences sparked a love of music and an appreciation for the important role school music programs can play in shaping confidence and creativity in young people.

She went on to study classical voice at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, later completing education studies at the University of Queensland. Through her work in schools and community programs, Courtney has focused on creating opportunities for young people to experience the confidence, creativity and connection that music can bring.

In 2015, Courtney was recognised for her work in education with the Outstanding Beginner Teacher Award from the Logan Education Alliance, reflecting her commitment to supporting young learners as they develop curiosity, confidence and a love of learning.

Alongside her teaching and directing work at Klangfarben, Courtney remains active as a performer in local ensembles and as a conductor.

Together with Tabea, Courtney co-founded Klangfarben Creative to build a welcoming musical community where young musicians can begin their musical journey, grow in confidence, and experience the joy of making music together.
