General Questions

  • Klangfarben Creative is a community music school in Yeronga offering early childhood music classes, before and after school music enrichment, small-group instrumental lessons and ensembles for young musicians.

  • All sessions are held at our Klangfarben Creative studio at QCWA Hall, 9 School Road, Yeronga.

  • Yes. Programs run for the school term, and enrolment reserves your place in a specific class each week.

  • If places are available, students may join mid-term and fees will be adjusted for the remaining weeks.

  • Term fees are paid in advance or through scheduled payments.

  • Yes. Street parking is available near the hall. Please allow a few minutes when arriving for busy class times.

  • We recommend arriving 5 minutes before the class begins so children can settle in comfortably.

  • Enrolment can be completed through the online booking system on our website. Once registered, you will receive confirmation and further details by email.

  • Are places limited?

    Yes. Most programs have capped class sizes to ensure students receive individual attention and can participate fully.

  • Important updates are sent by email, so please ensure your contact details are kept up to date.

Klangy Kids

  • Klangy Kids classes are designed for babies, toddlers and preschool children from around 6 weeks to 5 years, with classes tailored to different stages of early childhood.

  • Yes. Klangy Kids is a parent-and-child program, so a parent or caregiver participates alongside the child.

  • That’s completely normal. Young children learn through movement, exploration and play, and children are free to participate at their own pace.

  • No. All instruments and materials are provided during the class.

  • Early music experiences support language development, coordination, creativity and confidence while strengthening the connection between children and caregivers.

  • Many children continue into BAM (Before & After School Music) or begin small-group instrumental lessons as they grow older.

BAM

  • BAM (Before & After School Music) is a creative music enrichment program combined with supervised school pickup and care.

  • Students are walked between Yeronga State School and the Klangfarben studio by staff.

  • Yes. Students walk together in a supervised group with Klangfarben staff wearing high-visibility vests, and the route does not require crossing any roads.

  • No experience is required. BAM introduces students to music through rhythm activities, instruments and creative music-making.

  • Yes. Students attending BAM can add small-group instrumental lessons within the afternoon program.

Small-Group Instrumental Lessons

  • We currently offer violin, cello, piano, guitar and drums.

  • Instrumental lessons are taught in small groups of up to six students.

  • Yes, students should bring their own instrument.

  • Yes. Our small-group lessons are designed to support beginners and developing musicians.

  • Students may have opportunities to perform in informal concerts or studio performances during the year.

  • Most children begin instrumental lessons during primary school, once they are ready to focus on learning an instrument.

Ensembles

  • Yes. Ensemble programs are designed for students who are already learning an instrument.

  • No. Students learning elsewhere are welcome if the ensemble level is suitable.

  • Playing music with others helps students develop listening skills, teamwork and musical confidence.
    Just like soccer practice prepares players for the game, ensemble rehearsals allow musicians to use the skills they learn in lessons in a real musical setting.

  • Many ensembles perform in concerts or community events, giving students the opportunity to share their music.

  • Yes. Many students participate in both lessons and ensembles, allowing them to develop individual skills while also making music with others.

Attendance, Make-ups & Policies

  • Attendance policies differ depending on the program. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for details.

  • Some programs offer limited make-up options while others do not due to the collaborative nature of the classes.

  • Enrolment secures a place in the program for the full term. Withdrawal policies are outlined in the Terms & Conditions.
